My Story

Welcome!

If you’ve fallen far enough the rabbit hole… congratulations! You’ve found this post. Now, a bit about me.

I’ve always had the propensity to learn, be creative, and teach others. Heck, when I was in elementary school, I would play school with my younger brother during the summer who was a soon-to-be-kindergartener. I’m sure many teachers have similar origin stories, so I’m not super original, but I do have fond memories of that time in my life. I would even give him grades! (If only I was on top of grades now as I was back then…)

Throughout middle school and high school, I would find theatre and writing to be my creative outlet. In fact, I loved writing so much, I actually went into college wanting to be a published author. I wrote a few books (still in their draft stage, unfortunately), but began taking education courses, on my way to become an elementary teacher. I’ve always loved kids, after all! Besides, I thought, I could use allllll my free time I would have while being a teacher to work on my novel. HA.

Ha

HA.

I don’t know what I was thinking.

I digress.

I met my husband at Sam Houston State University while I was taking my education courses. Graduated with my Bachelors. Then my Masters. Got a few years of teaching under my belt and then got married and had my beautiful daughter. She’ll be 10 months old this month. My goal as a parent is to become a stay at home mommy and homeschool our kids. I was homeschooled from 7th-12th grade and it was such a positive experience overall, so I want my children to have the same opportunities I did.

Right now, my creative outlet is writing (once again, finally), and making resources to use and sell. I’m such a busy bee and love making things to either decorate classrooms with, use them for classroom transformations, or even teach my kiddos. I plan on using this skill to create a curriculum to use with my children as they grow up! Perhaps I will continue to create them as they get older so that I can use them to supplement their other learning materials.

All in all, who knows what the future has in store for me? As for now, I’m looking forward to what’s ahead and am so thankful for what has passed that has brought me to where I am today.

Until next time!

My beautiful family December 2023!

I think this was from my first year of teaching? Not sure why I posed like this…
