Theme Park Classroom Transformation to Review and Prep for ELAR Testing

I think one of the only good things about testing season is that there are so many fun things you can do with it. One fun way I’ve come up with is a theme park classroom transformation! Whether your favorite theme park is Universal Studios, Disney World (or Disney Land), Six Flags, etc., this theme park transformation and stations will immerse your students into all the fun. (Although it is clearly more geared toward a certain animal… 😉)

Keep reading to learn more about it!

What’s the hoopla about transformations, anyways?

Classroom transformations are a fun way to get your students involved in whatever the learning activity is for that day. Decorations are involved, of course, and oftentimes there are stations to go along with it! The thing is… I don’t like spending a lot of money on my classroom, which is why this resource is so nice. You can use it regardless of what grade level you teach and no matter the genre, because it’s editable! That’s saving money, right there!

Not only that, but the decorations included are everything you need to get started on transforming your class into a theme park! Yes, you can definitely go above AND beyond and get things like streamers and snacks, but I find that kits like these are juuuuust right.

I also have other decoration kits if this theme park one isn’t your jam…

Why you should download this transformation:

🏰It will better prepare your students

No matter your personal opinion about testing season, I think we can all agree that it’s important to prepare our students. This resource will help your students with test-taking and reading comprehension strategies that are vital to test-taking (and their reading skills!). I usually do a transformation of some sort before a big test (such as STAAR, for Texas) so they can feel more confident going into it.

🏰It’s engaging

The stations will keep your students active and involved in their learning which can, as you know, help them better retain information. Dice, bottle flipping, ring toss - these are all things you can easily set up in your classroom without scrambling to buy a ton of supplies. AND your students will have loads of fun!

🏰It’s good for any genre and any passage

I made this resource to be editable so you can use it for any genre and any passage. This is great if you’re going to move grade levels in the future, or if you want to do this transformation more than once a school year.

🏰It’s aesthetically pleasing

The nice pastels are easy on the eyes and the decorations are super cute. As you now, the learning environment can affect our students’ behaviors and performance, so something like this that isn’t overly stimulating is perfect. Plus, you can take some really cute pictures! Not a necessity, but still nice. 💖 Pair these decorations with some streamers and balloons and you’ll be all set!
